HAMPSTEAD HEATH LIDO
The Lido, which was given Grade 11 Listed Building status in January 1999, was originally opened in 1938 is now over 67 years old and had become in pressing need of repairs and improvements.
It is owned by the Corporation of London who have in place a long term strategy to safeguard the future of the Lido.
Phase One of the Refurbishment contract highlighted many essential works.
One problem area was identified as pool surround paving in poor condition which had to be replaced to provide a safe and even surface. The design brief stated that the replacement paving slabs had to blend with the original terracing and maintain the colour of the original slabs, namely a pale pink textured surface finish.
Several paving samples were produced and taken to site to ensure an acceptable colour match until final approval was achieved to enable production to commence.
